OUR PASTOR

REV. ANTHONY E. OWENS
On July 19, 2014, Reverend Anthony E. Owens was elected pastor of the Liberty Baptist Church.
Reverend Owens preached to the church as Pastor-Elect for the first time on August 31, 2014. It was at that time when he and his lovely wife joined Liberty. On March 8, 2015, he was installed as the 8th Pastor of Liberty Baptist Church.
Reverend Owens was educated in the public schools of the District of Columbia; attending Hendley Elementary School, Hart Junior High School, and Ballou Senior High School. After graduating from Ballou Senior High School in June 1977, Reverend Owens attended the University of the District of Columbia. He majored in Computer Science, later finishing his studies at Potomac College in the District of Columbia in 2001, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems Management. He immediately enrolled in the Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. in January 2002.
In June 2003, the Paramount Baptist Church of Washington, D.C., which was his former church, licensed Reverend Owens to preach God’s Gospel and in September 2007, he was ordained to the Gospel ministry. Reverend Owens graduated from the Wesley Theological Seminary in May 2008, with a Master’s in Divinity; with an emphasis in Urban Ministry. He is currently attending Trinity College of the Bible and Theological Seminary in Evansville, IN, pursuing a doctorate in ministry.
Reverend Owens currently serves as a Clergy Ambassador for the District of Columbia’s Attorney General Office where he, along with other clergy, promote trust and mutual respect between law enforcement and the community, thus improving the quality of life of the district’s residents while reducing crime and promoting public safety.
Reverend Owens maintains an affiliation with the Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency, assisting district residents who were incarcerated with a better life.
